Our History
The Nixa Education Foundation Fund was founded in November 2004, as a result of the District's Comprehensive School Improvement Plan. On July 25, 2007, permission was granted by the Nixa Community Foundation to create a separate Board of Directors, comprised of five individuals from the Nixa Community, who would help plan, organize, and develop the foundation.

Throughout 2007, the board crafted the mission statement and by-laws, and began the first monthly contributions to the endowment fund from Nixa Public School Employees and private donations. The first year, monthly payroll contributions totaled $485.

In May 2010, the First Annual Education Gala was held to recognize the service of those who contribute to excellence in the Nixa Public Schools. At the Gala NEF awarded pins for years of service to the District, honored retirees, presented a Special Recognition award, a Service to Education award, two Academic Achievement awards, and two inductees into the Academic Hall of Fames.

In 2010, NEF was awarded the opportunity to participate in the Harry Cooper Supply Company Campaign for the Ozarks Phase II challenge grant. As a result, the Legacy Endowment Fund was established. NEF and the community of Nixa met that challenge in 2010, raising over $21,930 to receive and $11,100 match from the Harry Cooper Foundation Supply Company.

To date, NEF has awarded grants to teachers in the District totaling over $160,000.
